The Vision

Global Alpha Training (GAT) is an initiative to send teams from churches with experience in running Alpha to train leaders in other nations yet to run the couse.

Alpha Australia provides teams with cross-cultural orientation, detailed programs and transcripts for the GAT training event.

There are identified GAT opportunities in countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region, where your church can send a team to participate in a GAT Event (Alpha matched GAT). Alternatively, if your church already has established relationships through its mission program, Alpha can equip you to train leaders in the Alpha Course as you visit those mission partners (Self Matched GAT).

The Challenge

In the last 10 years 11 million people have attended an Alpha course. God has given Nicky Gumbel a vision to reach 100 million people through Alpha over the next 10 years. To achieve this vision, the growth in the number of Alpha courses around the world needs to accelerate, at the same time ensuring the courses already running continue to develop.

Global Alpha Training (GAT) responds to the challenge by:

Linking up Alpha leaders who have established relationship in countries and nations around the globe who are looking for Alpha training, or groups of Alpha leaders willing to provide the training even if a prior relationship does not exist.

What has been exciting to track is that as the GAT teams return home, they are renewed and energized for Christ, His Church and His Cause, resulting in increased interest to reach their own communities and improve local Alpha courses.

There are opportunities for teams to go to countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region; please contact us for information. Teams are needed for numerous events in Indonesia throughout 2010, and for the following dates and regions in India:

Initial Preparation

• Assemble your team.
• Determine the location of your GAT event  - either through established GAT Events through the Alpha office, or where you or your church have an existing relationship. Are you going to Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, or India? Download relevant information on these countries here. 
• Fill in and submit the GAT Registration Form

Final Preparation

• Attend GAT training
• Download your GAT Event Talks & Transcripts and On The Ground Reflections Booklet.
• Practice your Event Talks and Sessions
• Make your travel arrangements, including coordination with the team hosting the event in-country. The Local Event Coordinator - Administrator Checklist will help.
