Tired of talking with your co-workers about the weather and what they did at the weekend? Why not talk about things that really matter? Business Alpha is designed to fit neatly into your working day - perhaps during a lunch break or even a breakfast meeting.
Alpha courses running in the workplace cover exactly the same material as regular Alpha courses (weekly sessions based on the book Questions of Life) however they are normally held during lunchtimes for about an hour. This allows 20 minutes each for the meal, the talk and the small group discussion. To help Business Alpha courses keep to the shorter timeframe, Alpha Express DVDs are now available with the Alpha course talks re-edited to a shorter 20 minutes.
STEP 1: Find out all your can about Business Alpha
STEP 2: Start praying
Pray for a team to assist you with running the course, for permission from your workplace to run the course, and for potential guests to come on the course. Successful courses are those covered with prayer!
STEP 3: Build a team
Many courses grow out of a Christian fellowship group that is already meeting within the workplace or a city centre church. A team of people is needed to support the course through administration, prayer, helping as small group hosts and helpers and inviting colleagues to the course
STEP 4: Plan the course
Get permission to run the course, plan the timings, book a venue, organise the food, train the small group leaders and helpers, order the relevant resources and plan how you are going to invite people to the course.
STEP 5: Register your course
Register your course on the website. This enables us to support you and for potential guests in your workplace to find out about your course.
STEP 6: Invite the guests
The best way to get people onto an Alpha course is through a personal invitation. Start building relationships now with colleagues that you would like to be inviting to a future course. Posters, extranet adverts and e-invitations can also be used to promote your course.
STEP 7: Go for it and keep praying!
